SUNDAY 5th FEBRUARY 2012
10.30am
This morning we'll be
starting a series of studies in the last book of the Old Testament.
Malachi was the
last prophetic voice to be heard before the coming of Jesus: so in many
ways, he brings God's final word at the end of the whole Old Testament
era.
As such he provides a
useful summary of all the main truths the Old Testament has brought to
the fore.
But he also ministered
into a situation not unlike our own. And as such his message is one we
need to hear.
He starts, where we always
need to start, with the fact of God's love. Sometimes it's this basic
truth to which we all need to return - God has loved you.
6.30pm
After working our way
through it for more than a year, we're nearing the end of the Acts of the Apostles.
It's a book in
the Bible which records the story of the early church and it's got many
a useful lessons for ourselves.
Tonight we'll be seeing
just what it was about the apostle Paul which made him emerge as a
leader among others in the turbulent times through which he lived.

Make yourself at home
There are two services
of worship every Sunday of the year.
The songs and hymns
are all projected onto the front wall and comprise a balanced diet of
traditional and more contemporary songs - which probably means there are
some that you'll quite like and others that .. well, others!
But, hey, see it as a challenge and learn to enjoy them anyway!
After
each service there's the chance to chat, chill or just chew on the cud
in the nearby hall - with refreshments available
10.30am
If you want a good seat come early - it's
usually pretty full! (Actually you're best to come late
because the comfiest seats with most leg room are down at the front and
in good Scottish style they're generally the last seats to be taken!)
Everyone is catered for! There's a
crèche available for the under 3's, and the needs of children and young
people, too, are met.
Most Sundays we break after maybe 20/25
minutes or so of the service, with the children and young people
dispersing to different parts of the complex as we all try and get our
heads round the exciting, challenging and sometimes rather scary truths
the Bible sets before us in a way appropriate to our age and stage.
But some Sundays adults and children stick
under the one roof and share the whole thing together.
6.30pm
This service takes a varied form and often
allows pressing issues to be addressed at greater depth. As one of
the regular worshippers said recently -
"...you never know
just quite what to expect!"
Celebrating Communion
The dates for early 2011 are:
30 January 10.30am and 3pm
