LEADERSHIP

The leadership team of the congregation is called the Kirk Session.

Their main role is that of prayerfully figuring out together what God's vision for his people here is:  and then getting that vision across.

We recently reduced the number of folk on that leadership team to 16:  but alongside them there are obviously loads of others involved in one form of leadership or another.

The 'Kirk Session'

It's a slightly old-fashioned term, derived from the days when the leaders acted as a sort of 'court' and (like a court of law) were said to be 'sitting', or 'in session'.

They're not really like that now, though:  we promise!

Anne Allan

a person well-used to taking the risks of faith in response to the Lord's call, having stepped out of a secure job a few years back to use her gifts in now managing The Lot

Stephen Ashforth

another ‘risk-taker’ who braved in faith a complete career change not so long ago to become a teacher, he heads up our ‘Evangelism’ Ministry Area

Steven Carvel

as an employee of Scottish Water, he knows full well there are times you have to ‘get out of the boat’ – and has not been afraid so to do

Kathryn Coad

with her roots in Wales, her gifts in music and her faith in the Lord, she’s one of those who can call the tune, in every sense

John Davis

our very own ‘Whistling Jack Smith’, with his dulcet tones and engaging smile he brings to the leadership team decades worth of experience pastoring people here

Michael Duncan

a clear thinker, who’s grown up in the life of the congregation, and has wide experience of both Christian work and the business world

Flora Johnston

a young Mum with a vision and passion for God’s kingdom, she loves both exploring and making history, helps lead the S4-6 group TGiS and edits 'The Big Picture’

Alan MacDonald

famed as the father of his three young sons, and with a job that takes him to areas of great need, he has a notable feel for how best we may honour the Lord across all of life

Jeremy Middleton

a lawyer’s mind and a rebel’s heart combine (sometimes none too comfortably) in his constant commitment to teach and apply the Scriptures as the living Word of God

Fred Nelson

Graeme Small

an elder of many years who has served the wider church in a way that’s commanded the respect of his peers, he’s presently our ‘Presbytery Elder’

Jim Smith

another long-standing Christian leader, with a breadth of perspective drawn from his wide-ranging commitment to the cause of Christ, he’s very much a pastor at heart

Alastair Stewart

a retired teacher but still with a heart for Christ’s work among young people today, for the past 20 years or so he’s been at the sharp end of the leadership exercised in this congregation

Margaret Stewart

gifted both with the ability to discern under God just who should be approached and with the energy and care to do so, she presently heads up our ‘Nurture’ Ministry Area

John Watson

an engineer by training and instinct, and a follower of Christ with deeply-held convictions, his desire and resolve is to make things happen
